Let's just say that it has been a while! I wasn't able to get on here last week due to the fact that we were in South Carolina celebrating birthday weekend. And there was NO way I wanted to weigh myself after that! Now I didn't go absolutely crazy..but I sure as hell didn't stay on my diet 100% either! In the end, I ended up gaining weight so I decided not to post late even. It was just depressing.
So I am back this week with better weight news. I say better weight news because all of the other news in my life is sub-par. We have had quite a lot of family crisis situations as of late and it is very difficult to stay on a healthy eating plan when I want to take out my emotional stress on a GALLON of cookie dough ice cream. I haven't done it...but don't think it's not at the back of my mind.
So, anyway, back to the healthy eating plan. I haven't been following it as rigorously as I was at first, but I only allow that because I am trying to let my body tell me more than my mind. I am trying to notice when I am full and hungry instead of just eating because I'm bored. It is a very difficult concept for someone who has spent years just eating because it was there or because it's "time" to eat. I have kept up with eating a healthy breakfast every morning and I really think that has paid off. If nothing else, it has been a good metabolism booster for the rest of my day. I have also had such a hard time drinking the correct amount of water that I have now added a cranberry and citrus green tea drink mixture to my plan. It is so delicious I can't help but drink it. I use 1/3 diet cranberry juice and 2/3 diet citrus green tea. The cranberry juice is good for flushing out your system and the green tea is supposedly good for metabolism. So it my mind it is a win-win even if I am adding calories from drinks. It's only about 40 calories for 2 cups so it really isn't that bad at all. And at least it is getting some sort of liquid in my body. I know I get a lot of liquid from all the fruits and vegetables I eat, but I seriously can go the entire day without drinking ANYTHING....I'm like a camel and I know that can't be good for me.
I have been doing my best to make healthy meals to take to school every night while I'm fixing dinner and that has really helped me throughout the day. I don't skimp on my lunches. I make them really delicious and yummy looking and it makes me excited to get to eat it. Not like walking into the lunchroom and going "Ew... whole wheat pizza...oh well at least it's something". Now I get to go, "YES! I'm having baked salmon and spinach tortilla rollup with homemade salsa and sea salt crackers with spreadable cheese!" And yes, that is actually a typical lunch. I am not starving myself by ANY means. I am just making better choices and that allows me to still eat quite a bit when I replace the quantities with fruits and vegetables. It's great.
So on to the weight loss. Drum roll please!!! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! 216.8! TA-DA! It is a HUGE achievement for me. I wish I was down a lot more but I am SUPER thrilled with myself because this means I have lost OVER 15 lbs TOTAL now! Regardless of if I have 40 more lbs to go or not, I am WAY excited about losing 15 lbs. So....YAY! In the end, I don't always make the right choices, but more often than not, I do think about what I am about to do to my body before I ingest something. And apparently, it's making a difference!
